Investor Visa


Georgia is a small country in the Caucasus, located east of Turkey. The country is not part of the European Union, but Georgians can travel to the EU for 90 days in a 180-day period. Business investors can obtain temporary residence in Georgia by investing 115,000 USD. Permanent residence can be obtained after living six years in Georgia. Naturalization into Georgian citizenship can happen after 5 years of residence. Citizenship by investment in Georgia is also possible if the investor has made a significant contribution to the state.




Business Investor


An investment residence permit is issued to an alien who made at least a GEL 300,000 investment in Georgia in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Promotion and Guarantees of Investments and his or her family members. Family members shall be an alien’s spouse, an underage child (children), and an incapable dependent(s). To obtain an investment residence permit, a foreigner must submit the following documents to the agency:


  1. 1. Application of an established form.

  2. 2. A copy of a travel document from a foreigner.

  3. 3. A copy of a document certifying the legal stay in Georgia.

  4. 4. Document evidencing the investment of at least GEL 300,000 in Georgia (auditor’s opinion).

  5. 5. Written recommendation of a member of the government of Georgia or three citizens of Georgia equipped with the power of representation of an entrepreneurial subject operating in Georgia.

  6. 6. The photo is 3×4 in size.

  7. 7. A receipt certifying the payment of the service fee.



Georgian Visa Application Steps for Entrepreneurs


  1. 1. Register the new business in Georgia.

  2. 2. Open a Georgia corporate bank account.

  3. 3. Make the real estate investment and/or obtain an employment contract.

  4. 4. Settle all government fees in full.

  5. 5. Submit all legal documents, translated in Georgian to the government.

  6. 6. Receive a local residence identification card.



Documents Required From The Applicant

  4. 4. A document showing proof of the investments that exceed GEL 300,000.

Short-term Residence Permits In Georgia


Short-term residence permits are issued to owners of active businesses like LTD companies in Georgia. The company or business must prove that it is an active business with business activities, contracts, corporate bank accounts, revenue service registration, etc. A short-term residence permit has validity for one year. The short-term residence permit is extendable by another 5 years and later on convertible into a permanent residence permit at the end of the 6-year period, provided that the investment remains in place in the possession.




Permanent Residence Permit For Investors


To get a permanent residence permit by investment, you will need to invest at least 300,000 GEL (approximately 110.000 EUR) in the Georgian economy in the form of loans, bank term deposits, the purchase of real estate property, or other assets in Georgia. The total value of your investment must be verified by an independent Georgian auditor. Please note that the application for a permanent residence permit has to also be supported by a member of the Georgian government or by three business managers who must be Georgian citizens. The permanent residence permit by investment is issued for an indefinite period of time. The residence ID card must be renewed every 5 years.
